Oakville is a town rich in history, since being established in 1857 by Colonel William Chisholm. The town was a main port of entry and was also a place where many African American Slaves who had embarked on the long and risky Underground Railroad journey finally found freedom in Canada. Visit the Oakville Museum, where you will also find the historic buildings of the Custom House and Bank of Toronto, the Erchless Estate, the Old Post Office and the Thomas House, a pioneer home with artifacts on display.

When the snow finally melts, the trees get tapped for that sweet stuff Canadians just love! Visit Bronte Creek Provincial Park for its annual Maple Syrup Festival – A great event for families.
